Generali Global Assistance

Generali Global Assistance offers three travel insurance plans: Standard, Preferred, and Premium. Each plan extends to offer COVID travel insurance in the event that you or a traveling companion contract the virus before or during your trip. However, if you cancel your trip because of the fear of travel, their plans will not provide coverage.

If you or someone you’re traveling with contracts coronavirus and meets the requirements for coverage due to sickness, you can be covered for Emergency Assistance and Transport, Trip Cancellation, Travel Delay, Medical and Dental, and Trip Interruption. Generali also offers 24/7 Emergency Assistance services.

The level of coverage for each service depends on which of the three plans you opt for, but you will always receive 100% coverage for Trip Cancellation.

The Standard plan is considered best for travel within the U.S., such as flights, road trips, and vacation rentals. Generali recommends the Preferred plan for those planning to ski, golf, hike, or partake in international travel. The Premium plan is recommended for more expensive travel plans such as cruises and tours.

Why Buy Travel Insurance Anyway?

Well, here are good reasons why you better get travel insurance in the case of unexpected situations

  • Most hospitals abroad require cash payments upfront. They won’t accept U.S. health insurance cards. In this case, if you carry travel insurance, it is your guarantee payment to doctors and hospitals that you will be treated for covered medical cases while traveling.
  • Medical evacuations overseas can be very costly. With travel insurance, you can make sure that you won’t have problems with transportation to the nearest hospital and be covered. It can also provide you with medical transportation to get back home if needed.
  • Many of the companies providing travel services, such as cruise lines, tour companies, and airlines have strict cancellation policies. Such cancellation policies can be covered with your travel insurance.

Final Thoughts

It’s frustrating to have to put all of our travel plans on hold because of the coronavirus, but with some coronavirus travel restrictions lifting, it feels like the end is in sight. If you are planning a trip in the upcoming months, be sure to use common coronavirus travel advice.  Please do social distancing, wear a mask, and self-quarantining if symptoms arrive.

In any circumstance, purchasing travel insurance is a sound investment in case you get sick or injured during your trip. Many people go without travel insurance and later wish they’d purchased it.

If you’re considering traveling during the pandemic, it may be more important than ever before to pay for insurance. For your upcoming trip, consider purchasing travel insurance from one of these companies. Thinking ahead could potentially save you thousands of dollars in the case of an emergency.
