Barcelona is stunning, but it can feel expensive at first, especially if it’s your first visit. I explored the city while spending almost nothing on attractions, and it honestly didn’t take away from the experience at all. Barcelona has so much to offer for free if you know where to look. 1. Get Free Tapas with a Drink

Yes, it’s true. Some bars in Barcelona serve free food when you order a drink. You still pay for the drink, but it’s a great way to save money on food.

 

It’s also very social. People at the bar often chat, so it’s easy to meet others. And while tipping isn’t required in Spain, leaving a small tip is a nice gesture since the food is on the house.

2. Visit FREE Museums on Sunday 

The first Sunday of every month is the official day for FREE museum admission.

• Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) has collections from the 19th and 20th centuries, including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, and Renaissance art collections. Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month and every Saturday after 3 pm.
• Museu Picasso – It has one of the most expressive art collections of the 20th century. Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month, from 9 am to 7 pm, and on Thursday afternoons from 6 pm to 9.30 pm.
